Services

As a School Counselor our job is to help children, parents and teachers promote student achievement. We can see children individually, in small groups, and through classroom leadership lessons.

Individual Counseling

We can see students on a short term, individual basis for solution focused counseling. Teachers, administration, parents and even students can refer themselves to see us on a variety of topics.

Small Group Counseling

Small groups are held throughout the year for 6 weeks at a time. Topics may include behavior, friendship, grief, worry, and family changes just to name a few.

Classroom Leadership Lessons

Lexington School District One has a leadership curriculum that all school counselors use to help discuss specific topics such as cooperation, responsibility, differences, respect, consequences, coping strategies, teamwork, active listening, conflict, caring communication, individual strengths, goal setting, making good decisions, positive attitude, peer pressure, bullying, dealing with obstacles, transitioning to middle school, and career education. If there is a topic not covered through our curriculum we incorporate other topics based on teacher/parent and school need referrals.
